Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 1, 2026. This policy explains what Puzzle.now collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It covers puzzle.now and every puzzle, daily challenge, leaderboard and multiplayer match on the site.
The short version: you can play every puzzle without an account, your game stats live in your own browser, signing in with Google is completely optional, and we never sell your data. You can ask us to delete your account details at any time.
1. Information We Collect
Game Stats (Local Storage)
Your best times, win streaks, high scores and in-progress puzzles are saved in your browser's local storage, right on your own device. This data never leaves your browser unless you sign in and choose to sync it. Clearing your browser data erases it.
Sign-In Data (Optional)
You never need an account to play. If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive a basic profile such as your name, email address and account ID from Google so we can create your profile. We do not see or store your Google password. Signing in lets your stats sync across devices and powers leaderboards, daily-challenge streaks and multiplayer history.
Gameplay Data
For signed-in players and for anyone joining the daily challenge or a multiplayer match, we record things like completion times, move counts and scores. This data powers the leaderboards and your personal stats.
Contact Form Data
If you message us through the contact form, we store the name, email address, subject and message you provide, solely so we can read your note and reply.
Technical Data
Standard server logs capture things like IP addresses, browser type and request timestamps, which we use for security and to keep the site running smoothly. Logs are kept for a limited time and are not used to build profiles of individual players.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To run the puzzles, manage optional sign-in, and show leaderboards
- To run fair daily challenges and real-time multiplayer matches
- To reply to messages sent through the contact form
- To spot cheating and keep leaderboard scores honest
- To improve site speed and fix bugs
We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we never sell it to anyone.
3. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and to protect forms against cross-site request forgery. We may also use privacy-respecting analytics to understand overall site use, such as which puzzles are popular. That data is grouped together and is not used to identify individual visitors. Our cookie policy has the full details.
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We share data only in these limited cases:
- Service providers: Hosting, sign-in and email providers that operate on our behalf
- Legal requirements: When required by law or a valid legal request
5. Data Retention
Sign-in details are kept for as long as your account is active. Gameplay records tied to a deleted account are anonymized rather than removed, so leaderboards stay intact. Contact form messages are kept only as long as we need them to handle your request. Your local-storage stats are under your control and never expire on our side.
6. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, or to object to or limit how we use it. To make any of these requests, reach us through the contact form.
7. Children
Puzzle.now is suitable for all ages, but sign-in is meant for players aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. Playing without an account requires no personal data at all.
8. Security
We use HTTPS for every connection, rely on Google for secure sign-in, and protect all forms with CSRF checks. We take reasonable steps to guard your data, but no online service can promise perfect security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make a meaningful change, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after that date means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
Questions about privacy or a data request? Please use the contact form. You can also read our terms and conditions and cookie policy.
